Sadly this is probably a pretty niche issue for them right now, but it is literally the only piece of software I've ever seen this happen so I'm hopeful a fix will arrive.
I just googled various "xonar control panel asio" type stuff FYI.

On top of that, I don't know why ASIO settings affect Noita at all - It is likely specific to my specific driver/hardware since Noita doesn't use the actual ASIO drivers as far as I can tell. Sounds like a right click on the Asus Audio taskbar icon will show an ASIO option? That's old info and may be model specific. I don't know anything about Xonar products or which hardware you have but in doing some quick research you might be able to access ASIO settings in your Xonar control panel somehow to access the bit depth and sample rate to play with.

My random thoughts to try and help would be standard fare like update drivers and use the latest control panel software. I haven't played with sound settings much since October, but I still get what I believe is small sound distortion related to this so I assume whatever issues exist for external and/or discrete soundcards is not addressed. Odd to me that longer buffer sizes seem to be causing oddities when it's usually the short buffer times causing problems in audio editing. No clue why this is an issue but hopefully the above helps someone. I'm admittedly on the fence on 512 buffer at 44.1 and 48kHz - they seem ok but are a but rough when they first start up so maybe certain effects or sounds will cause issues?
Unlike MGM above me, switching back to a setting does not alter the previous performance - all combinations of buffer and sample rate seem to give repeating results.Īt buffer sizes 256 and lower all the way down to 16 at all sample rates, nothing crackles as far as I can discern. Sample Rate = 48 kHz buffer size 1024 -> crackles Sample Rate = 44.1 kHz buffer size 1024 -> crackles For the devs and/or anyone else curious my results are the following: I was able to cure the crackling by altering my sample rate and buffer sizes. Using the ASIO Control panel, switching from 44.1 kHz and back did not fix it. My fix isn't the exact same but it's related. External interface (Scarlett 2i4) and lots of sound crackling throughout the game.
